3. Usage

Kruiser is easy to use, when you are familar with the Win-Explorer you should have no problems in using it.

The main window is split up into the directory tree on the left side and a flie list on the right side. You may change the size of them by moving the separator in the middle.

3.1 Directory tree

The directory tree is on the left side. You can set the current directory by selecting it with the left mouse button.
If you want to open a sub-directory, just do a double click on the name or a single click on the little '+'. You can also use the middle mouse button.
To close the sub-directory, in order to get a better overview, click on the little '-', or again use the middle mouse button.

Instead of the mouse you can also use the keyboard to navigate in the directory tree. Just try cursor up / down to change the current directory and cursor left / right to open / close the sub-directory. Use the tabulator key to switch between directory tree and the file list(s).

If you want to apply an operation on a directory, press the right mouse button over the corresponding directory.

The following operations are possible:

3.2 The file list

The contents of the directory are displayed in one of the file lists. Yes! You can have more than one file list ( by default one ). To activate the file list(s) do a single click with the left mosue button, or press the tabulator key when you are in the directory list.

To navigate in the file list, you can use the cursor up / down and the page up / down keys.

If you want to open a directory you don't have to use the directory tree as mentioned above. It also works in the file list. Try a double click with the left mouse button, or a single click with the middle mouse button. If you want to move back to the parent directory, use the yellow 'parent directory' icon in the tool bar.

To select one file use a single left mouse click. To select more files you can add files to the selection by holding the Ctrl key and clicking with the left mosue button on the coresponding files. Or you can select the first file and specify the last with shift key and the left mosue button. Kruiser will then mark all the files between the first and the last.

You can do a some operation to the current file(s), press the right mouse button over a file or directory to open a pop-up menu.

The following operations are possible:

If you press the right mouse button over an empty place, the pop-up menu looks a bit different:

Kruiser also supports drag & drop for files and directory ( move, copy, link ), as you know it from in KFM. Try it out!

To rename a file or a directory, simply select it and click on the name, to change it in 'realtime'. You have to get used to it, since you would probably do some double click at first.

The toolbar icons have the same functionality as the pop-up menus. The icons also have tool tips, so it might not be difficult to find out what they do.
