Benchmark::Timer::Class Version 0.01 Copyright (c) 2001 Doug Neil All rights reserved. This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the same terms as Perl itself. This Perl module allows you to determine the elapsed time of all the method calls to a specified object with minimal editing of your original program. For example, if you start with a program such as: use TestC; use strict; my $tc = new TestC; my $one_var = $tc->load1(); my (@two_vars) = $tc->load2(); $one_var = $tc->load1(); @two_vars = $tc->load2(); and you want to time all the calls, you need only modify the code to be: use Benchmark::Timer::Class; use TestC; use strict; my $tc_original = new TestC; my $tc = new Benchmark::Timer::Class($tc_original); my $one_var = $tc->load1(); my (@two_vars) = $tc->load2(); $one_var = $tc->load1(); @two_vars = $tc->load2(); $tc->report(); Notice that the only original line of code which needed to be changed was the call to the constructor of TestC. The above example exists in the examples subdirectory of the distribution. To configure this module, cd to the directory that contains this README file and type the following: perl Makefile.PL Alternatively, if you plan to install Benchmark::Timer::Class somewhere other than your system's perl library directory. You can type something like this: perl Makefile.PL PREFIX=/home/me/perl INSTALLDIRS=perl Then to build you run make. make You can then test the module by typing: make test If you have write access to the installation directories, you may then install by typing: make install
